Dianne treats ONE-ON-ONE for an hour which allows her to make the most of each visit. This is very rare in other physical therapy clinics. Dianne will re-assess to decide what is the best approach for each treatment session. She uses a holistic approach merging yoga into traditional physical therapy techniques, as well as craniosacral therapy, myofascial techniques, and functional movement techniques.
Physical Therapy
Mobilization and manipulations will be used to regain joint mobility. Myofascial techniques are utilized to ensure movement of the fascia and contiguous structures to restore function and decrease pain. Craniosacral therapy is a gentle form of bodywork to encourage a calming of the central nervous system and decrease pain.
Balance is needed in many people after a joint injury. The best way to prevent a future injury is to completely heal the current injury. Balance and agility need to be addresses to assure we completely heal. Balance is extremely trainable but it needs to be challenged and in a safe environment. This requires one-on-one care to supervise while taking someone into that challenging state.
Balance is also needed in clients that have neurological conditions including Parkinsonism, multiple sclerosis and after having a stroke. Balance also needs to be addressed in the aging population to ensure they stay independent as long as possible.
The overall goal of SFMA is to identify limitations of movement that can cause you pain and injury. We utilize 7 movement patterns that assess how you move and is good way to approach anyone that has pain with movement to see if other body parts may be contributing to this issue.
Video running analysis – video is taken of you running from 2 different angles. This video is then analyzed using slow motion and still frames for assessment of how each joint is moving while you are running. These allows us to learn about your running form and see how you can improve performance. Runner’s typically hate taking time off, we will take that into consideration and educate you when it is ok to train through pain and when it is only going to cause further injury.
